Fast ForWord

Fast ForWord® is an Internet and CD-ROM based training program for individuals with learning and reading problems. The product of over 25 years of research in neuroscience and neurophysiology, the program represents a revolutionary approach to language problems. In an intensive series of adaptive, interactive exercises using acoustically processed speech and speech sounds, the patented Fast ForWord technology stimulates rapid language skill development as clients learn to distinguish the various components of speech. On average, children with language problems make 1.5 to 2 years of language gains after completion of the 4 to 8 week program.

Improvement includes gains in language and reading skills, including auditory processing speed, working memory, phonological awareness, listening and reading comprehension, syntax, and grammar. As a result of this training, neural pathways for processing and understanding language are strengthened.

The program provides 100 minutes per day of training, five days per week, under the supervision of a Fast ForWord® Certified Professional. On-screen rewards for successful completion of training segments are supplemented with interesting rewards. Results from the exercises are uploaded daily via the internet to Scientific Learning Corporation's consolidated data base to advance the client's record of progress. In addition to personally monitoring the client, the Fast ForWord® Professional can access the client's historical data online and can download interpretive summaries for clients and parents.
